ADIPEC 2026 Abu Dhabi runs from 2 to 5 November 2026 and brings Gulf oil and gas buyers face to face with the suppliers behind their separators and columns. For process, procurement and EPC teams it is the fastest way to compare mass transfer equipment and separation equipment for UAE projects in one visit. This guide explains what to check before you walk the halls.
Why mass transfer and separation equipment deserves a place on your ADIPEC list
A separator or column vessel is only a shell. The internals inside it decide product purity, liquid carryover, pressure drop and how long the unit runs between shutdowns. A small internals package can protect a compressor, an amine unit or a whole fractionation train.
Gulf oil and gas plants also run under demanding conditions: high gas rates, sour service, sand and solids, wide turndown and long turnaround intervals. Internals that are sized generically rarely perform well under those conditions.
What separator and column internals are used in oil and gas plants?
Oil and gas plants use two families of internals. Separator internals handle gas-liquid and liquid-liquid separation. Column internals handle mass transfer in distillation, absorption and stripping towers.
| Equipment | Typical internals | What they do |
| Two-phase and three-phase separators | Inlet devices, baffles, coalescer packs, mist eliminators, vortex breakers | Break inlet momentum, separate oil and water, remove liquid droplets from gas |
| Scrubbers and knock-out drums | Mesh demister pads, vane packs, cyclones | Protect compressors and downstream units from liquid carryover |
| Distillation and fractionation columns | Trays, structured packing, random packing, liquid distributors, collectors | Create vapour-liquid contact for separation |
| Absorbers and strippers | Packing, distributors, bed limiters, support grids | Gas treating, dehydration and stripping service |
S-Cube Mass Transfer designs and manufactures these as oil and gas internals, column internals, distillation trays and structured packing.
What should Gulf oil and gas buyers consider when selecting mass transfer equipment?
Gulf buyers should check seven things: process design capability, sizing basis, materials, fabrication control, documentation, delivery and after-supply support. Use this list at every stand you visit.
1. Process engineering. Ask who does the hydraulic and separation sizing, and with which methods. A supplier that only fabricates to your drawing cannot help when operating conditions change.
2. Sizing basis. Ask for the design case, turndown case and the assumed droplet size or tray efficiency. A quotation without a stated basis cannot be compared.
3. Materials of construction. Confirm experience with the alloys your service needs, including stainless steels, duplex and other corrosion-resistant grades for sour or chloride service.
4. Manufacturing and QA/QC. Ask about material traceability, dimensional checks, trial assembly and third-party inspection.
5. Documentation. Expect general arrangement drawings, datasheets, an inspection and test plan, material certificates and an installation manual.
6. Delivery and export. Shutdown windows in the Gulf are fixed. Ask for realistic lead times, packing methods and shipping routes to Jebel Ali, Khalifa Port, Sohar or Hamad Port.
7. Site and revamp support. Check whether the supplier can supervise installation and troubleshoot after start-up.
Questions worth asking at any stand
• Can you review my process data and propose internals, or do you need a finished specification?
• Which inlet device and mist eliminator would you choose for my gas rate, and why?
• What is the guaranteed carryover or separation efficiency, and under which conditions?
• How do you fit internals through an existing manway during a revamp?
• Which operator pre-qualifications do you hold, and for which product groups?
On the last point, S-Cube is an ADNOC Pre-qualified Supplier for specific product groups covering separator internals, trays, packings, coalescers and demisters.
What to bring to a technical discussion
Buyers who arrive with data leave with answers. Bring the process datasheet, gas and liquid flow rates, operating pressure and temperature, fluid densities and viscosities, vessel or column dimensions, nozzle and manway sizes, and a short description of the problem you want solved.

Structured Packing for Mass Transfer and Separation
Facilities like processing plants, offshore drilling locations, and refineries perform chemical separation functions called mass transfer functions. In these functions, liquids like gasoline and water are purified to get rid of contaminants. This procedure takes fruition by pumping liquids into the scrubber column, where the liquid is segregated from pollutants and particulates.
