• Mist Eliminator

The mist eliminator is located at the top of the column. It helps prevent entrainment at the vapor outlet. The mist eliminator comprises a packing or an inert fabric to prevent entrainment.

• Liquid Distributor

Liquid distributors are responsible for the uniform dispensing of the incoming fluid over the column cross-section. The type, like a tube, nozzle, channel, etc., may depend on the varying properties of the liquid involved.

• Wall Wiper

The wall wiper’s duty is to detect the liquid from the column’s inner wall back into the packing. The process helps optimize the column’s overall efficiency.

• Support Grid

As the name implies, a support grid made of various corrosion-resistant materials helps hold the structure firmly. Superior-quality support grid can help retain most of the gas flow cross-sectional area and reduce the pressure drop.

• Steam Intake

Even distribution of steam increases the efficacy of the use of the packing. It reduces the overall height of the column.

• Structured Packing

In applications that demand a high level of separation efficiency, structured packing helps proves advantageous.

High-quality structured packing comprises alternating arranged corrugated plates of glass with flow channels inclined by a particular angle. The glass plates are integrated to keep only the borosilicate glass connected with the process fluids.

• Vortex Breaker

A vortex breaker is located at the column’s bottom. It helps drain the required amount of liquid and prevent the run-down liquid from entering the steam inlet.

• Packing

Packing is made up of borosilicate glass structures. They are used to leverage their corrosion-resistant properties and temperature allowance. Packing is available in various other materials, based on the process requirements.

• Collectors and Redistributors

Collectors and redistributors are placed underneath the packing. They collect the run-down liquid and remove it from the column or return it to the distributor.

• Usually, there exists a heating source that creates vapor inside a column. The process can be completed through direct heating or through a reboiler.
